Five years ago, the bright yellow dandelion inspired our first nutrition and wellness fair as a bold symbol of our communities aspiring resilient health. The word Dandelion is derived form the french “dent de lion” meaning tooth of the Lion.
In 2018, we introduced a new healthy lifestyles attraction also inspired by the French. Our Dandelion Day Festival spin on the famous ‘Tour de France’ bicycle race is Peterborough’s own ‘Tour de Lion.’ It’s a ride for fun, health and community.
In 2019, help us kick off Dandelion Day festivities with this year’s version of the Tour de Lion on Sunday, May 26. Our charity ride supports the United Way of Peterborough. Take part in the Avid Cyclist Ride (55 km) or the Trent Trail Community Ride (10 km).
Ride for fun, health and community!

Hey Kids! Bring your bikes, skateboards, rollerblades and scooters and meet up with the Big Dandee – our festival’s giant Dandelion at 11 am at the foot of Simcoe Street. Take part in the 1 KM All-Wheels Mini Challenge by riding all the way into the centre of Millennium Park. Can you do it? Don’t forget your helmets! At the end, we’ll have refreshments for the kids and get a group photo of everyone!
